Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds have announced the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning
Both Carrie and her baby are doing very well, the spokesperson for the couple said.
The spokesperson for Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds also said:
“The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well.”
“The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”
The couple announced at the end of February that Ms Symonds was pregnant and they had got engaged.

Mr Johnson has previously suggested he intends to take paternity leave, although, given the circumstances of the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is not known if this remains his decision.
Dominic Raab will stand in for Mr Johnson at prime minister’s questions later.
This event explains why the Prime Minister was absent at yesterday’s Daily coronavirus press conference, which was held by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
The Health Secretary tweeted his support for the couple earlier:

Johnson had only just returned to work on Monday, after being hospitalised with COVID-19. The Prime minister spent a week in St Thomas’ hospital in London, including several days in an intensive care unit, due to persistent symptoms of the coronavirus.
In a speech he gave on his return back to work on Monday morning, the PM even admitted that “things could have gone either way” and thanked NHS staff for helping him to recover.
In reference to her fiancée’s stay in hospital, Carrie Symonds wrote on twitter:
“There were times last week that were very dark indeed. My heart goes out to all those in similar situations, worried sick about their loved ones.”
Labour party leader Sir Keir Starmer, also showed his support for the Prime Minister and his fiancée on twitter:
