Self-employed dad, wins £58m EuroMillions jackpot

Ryan Hoyle, a self-employed joiner from Rochdale in Greater Manchester, has said that his parents could finally retire after his big win

The massive prize means the 38-year-old self-employed joiner is now the 20th richest on the National Lottery rich-list after winning the jackpot of £58,366,487.

Ryan, from Rochdale, who has an 11-year-old daughter, said: “I always wake up early and was sat on the edge of my bed but couldn’t work out what I was looking at.”

“The email linked to my account which looked like a lot of numbers and I thought it might be millions but I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. I couldn’t make sense of it and really needed to talk to someone so I called Mum and Dad.”

“It was 6am so they assumed that I had locked myself out of the flat somehow as it has happened before.”

“I was shaking and really needed a second opinion so I jumped in the van and drove round to Mum & Dad’s house.”

Ryan made sure when visiting his parents house, that he followed the government guidelines regarding the current COVID-19 lockdown, that was discussed in today’s daily coronavirus press briefing from the government.

“I stuck to the government guidelines and kept a safe distance outside and passed the phone through the window for them to double-check for me.”

“They even checked my numbers against another website, just to be sure. It was real – I had won £58M!”

“Dad congratulated me from inside their house whilst Mum shouted out if she could retire now?! I replied yes,” Ryan added.

As a self-employed joiner of 15 years, Ryan has been working on various jobs including one for his brother in his spare time, helping him with a refurbishment, which he plans to honour the commitment for and finish the job he had agreed to do.

“I’m nearly done so will see the job through,” he said.

“After that, who knows? Not sure I need the work at the moment.”

“Basically Mum, Dad and my brother can all retire this week.”

As for what he plans to spend his new fortune on, Ryan has said he will by a new car that will replace his two-year-old van.

He would also like to build his own family home rather than renting a flat, as well as take a holiday to Florida, where he will take his daughter to Disneyland.
