Earlier today, a male individual was swiftly transported to a prominent trauma centre after experiencing a stabbing incident in close proximity to the British Museum.

Law enforcement officials promptly responded to the esteemed global tourist destination following notifications of a knife assault, effectively managing the situation.

At the location, medical attention was provided to a man who sustained a stab injury to his arm. Subsequently, the London Ambulance Service conveyed him to a medical facility for further evaluation of his condition, which is presently under assessment.

According to the Metropolitan Police, a male individual has been apprehended under suspicion of inflicting serious bodily harm in connection with the aforementioned incident.

In a statement posted on social media, they said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH following an isolated incident at the junction of Russell Street /Museum St approx 10am – a man was taken to hospital with a stab wound.

“No outstanding risk to the public.”

Furthermore, they have verified that the stabbing is an isolated occurrence and is not being regarded as an incident related to terrorism.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.19am today (8 August) to reports of a stabbing on Great Russell Street, WC1B.

“We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We treated a man at the scene for an arm injury before taking him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

The convergence of Great Russell Street and Museum Street is situated near the entrance of the renowned museum in the heart of London.

Visitors were reportedly evacuated from the museum with the Financial Times journalist Keira Renee tweeting: “Was just waiting in line to enter.. Being told by police that it’s a large crime scene and that the museum will be closed until tomorrow.”

The British Museum tweeted: “The Museum is temporarily closed due to an incident close by. We will update visitors as soon as we are able to reopen.”

One witness tweeted: “Within ten minutes of entering, they are kicking us out. the @britishmuseum is closing due to police alert?? A man with a knife in the queue.”

A 27-year-old woman from the United States recounted that she was on the verge of joining the queue at the British Museum when law enforcement instructed her to depart due to a stabbing incident.

The visitor from New York was leaving a Starbucks directly across from the museum on Great Russell Street when police approached her.

She said: “I was standing across the street at the Starbucks walking out to get into the line.

“We decided it was a good time to go, then we walked out and a cop directly in front of us told us we needed to leave and that the crime scene was large.

“I heard that someone was stabbed and the ambulance was parked inside near the grass area and then rushed down the street, right by me, with police following behind.

“A cop told me the museum is completely closed until tomorrow.”
