KFC is to re-open select UK restaurants for delivery after stores have shut due to the coronavirus lockdown measures
KFC has now started re-opening a select number of its UK stores, and those restaurants will be operating for delivery on a limited basis, with specific set menus, as those staffing the restaurants are following social distancing rules.
Due to the lockdown measures, many fast-food restaurants have ended up temporarily closing, such as Nandos, Greggs, McDonald’s, and Subway all shutting their doors following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Orders to KFC will be able to be made on Deliveroo, and the payment for delivery will be purely contactless, meaning no human interaction will be involved, avoiding the risk of breaching the current social distancing measures.
KFC restaurants that have re-opened in the UK include:
- Stockport
- Staffordshire
- Birmingham
- Hulme
- Portsmouth
- Bracknell
- Ipswich
- Glasgow
- Great Western Retail Park branches
- Enfield
- Manchester
A KFC spokesperson said: “Over the last week, we’ve reopened 11 of our restaurants in the UK.”
“They’re open for delivery only and are serving a limited menu, operated by fewer team members with new procedures in place to help ensure we’re following social distancing guidelines.”
Showing support for all the NHS workers on the frontline, KFC added:
“There’s still a need for affordable, accessible food at this time – so we want to do our part.”
“We’ve also donated thousands of meals from all our open restaurants to those on the frontline, including the NHS and key workers, in partnership with Deliveroo, and will continue to do so each week whilst the situation continues.”
The company has donated more than 3,000 meals to NHS staff and key workers who are still grinding while much of the country is shut down.
And the 11 open restaurants will give up to 100 free dinners on Tuesdays to those NHS staff working on the frontline against COVID-19.
